Hello all, too busy to keep up with the tennis event of this past week? No worries, We have you covered. Here is our Tennis Stage Weekly Wrap Up for Sunday, July 30th
Quite a few tournaments going on this week. Let's take a look at some of the bigger ones.
Caroline Wozniacki took on Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic in the final of the Ericsson Open in Bastad. Heading into the final Wozniacki was 2-0 against Siniakova. Many thought that this match belonged to Wozniacki. They were wrong. Katerina played solid and aggressive tennis from the very beginning. Wozniacki, playing with a slight wrist injury, did not play her best but she did get a lot of balls back and fought as well as she could. Katerina played aggressively often throwing her whole body into her shots, particularly her backhand. Many players attempt to beat Caroline by hitting through her, many fail. Katerina Siniakova played with controlled aggression and took the match and her 2nd title, 6-3, 6-4
For the second week in a row, John Isner has reached yet another ATP final. Isner took on fellow American Ryan Harrison in the final of the BB&T Atlanta Open. This was a competitive and well-played match. Both players served and played solidly off the ground. The first and second sets mirrored each other and ended up in tie-breaks. Isner's serve was the deciding factor in both sets and the match. When he needed it, Isner was able to come up with the big serve more often than Harrison. Isner won, 7-6(8-6), 7-6(9-7)
