Hello, all. Wimbledon 2017 is in the record books. How did your favorites do? Let's take a look.

Women

On the women's side, Venus Williams played some great tennis to overcome Johanna Konta in straight sets in the semifinals. Garbine Muguruza was equally impressive dispatching Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-1, 6-1.

Going into the final Venus had a 3-1 match record against Muguruza. Some thought that if Venus served and played well the match would be hers. Muguruza had other plans. In a pretty good first set by both Venus had several opportunities to break, and 2 set points but she came up short. Muguruza, on the other hand, stayed tough and consistent. She took the first set 7-5.

In the second set, Venus' energy level seemed to drop and she began making too many unforced errors. Muguruza raced through 6-0 in the final set.

Muguruza played well and showed that she is a multiple grand slam winner and contender for more grand slams in the future. Venus showed that she can compete for grand slam trophies and although she came up short here, she has a shot to do well at the US Open.

Men

On the men’s side, Roger had been amazing all week and put on an impressive display to beat Berdych in straight sets. Marin Cilic was almost as impressive in beating the hard hitting and serving American, Sam Querrey.

Who would raise the Wimbledon trophy, Roger or Marin?

In the final Roger continued to play some great tennis. Cilic played ok but was missing some easy forehands. Cilic was playing far from his best and it was soon revealed in a medical timeout that he had a blister and was apparently playing with pain and limited movement. Even if Cilic were 100% he would have had a tough time against an in form Federer. Federer won, 6-3, 6-1, 6-4.

The hard- court season will soon begin. Who will play well? WIll Azarenka and Sharapova prevail on the hard courts. How will Venus and Muguruza perform? Will Federer and Nadal continue their amazing year with more wins? Will Murray get back on track? These questions and more will be answered in future editions of the Weekly Wrap Up.
